CorePLAN calculates photon dose distributions by Collapsed Cone Convolution
algorithm (in adaptive and non-adaptive way) and Equivalent TAR (ETAR)
algorithm,
and electron dose distributions by Hogstrom Pencil Beam algorithm.
Non-adaptive calculation is very accurate and reliable dose calculation
method that boasts less
than 1.5% of in-field region error. Adaptive calculation is ten times
faster than non-adaptive calculation and moderately accurate (within
2.5% of in-field region error) method. ETAR and Hogstrom Pencil Beam
method provides very quick (dozens of seconds per beam) estimation
of planning process. Combining these algorithms user can efficiently
plan radiation treatment.
User
Friendliness
The overall system and layout of Core PLAN suite is designed always
keeping user friendliness
in mind. The menu of CorePLAN is laid in the order of planning process.
The Plan Explorer and Beam Property List show the general information
of VOIs, POIs, prescriptions, and beams. CorePLAN also provides high-resolution
icons to enhance readability in large screens.
Visualization
CorePLAN
provides real-time 2D and OpenGL based 3D views including axial, sagittal,
coronal, thumbnail, and beam’s eye view. Every beam trajectory
and projections of VOIs and POIs are accurately displayed to help
users medical inspiration.
